Welcome to DisabilityLink.net

DisabilityLink.net is intended to be a resource to help bring people together. More specifically, DisabilityLink.net provides information about local and regional classes and support groups in order to bring together people who may be facing similar challenges or circumstances.

When it comes to dealing with life's challenges, sometimes "going-it-alone" is not the best way, nor the most effective way, to meet those challenges. DisabilityLink.net provides information in order to make another option possible - to meet these challenges with support and understanding of others facing the same or similar challenges.

Sometimes the more effective way is to find strength in numbers.

The Benefits of Support Groups

Both health professionals and mental health professionals have long recognized the benefits support groups can offer. Support groups bring together people facing similar challenges. Those challenges may revolve around an illness, relationship problems, or major life changes. Members of support groups often share experiences, and at times, they may offer helpful advice. It can be helpful simply talking with other people who are in the same situation.

The benefits of participating in support groups may include:

  • Feeling less lonely, isolated or judged.

  • Gaining a sense of empowerment and control.

  • Improving your coping skills and sense of adjustment.
